Well the snow never really flew here in Indiana or any where else for that matter.....so I never put my car up for winter and I bet many of you did not either.
It is never too early to start planning for next year. This last January several of us attended the Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach and then attended the new FCA event at Daytona which was held during the Rolex 24 Race where the new 458 GTs competed. You should try to make it down to the sun and fun in Florida next year. Running your car on the banks of Daytona are the thrill to top all thrills.
Last weekend, I drove to Chicago again to bring back a member's new 458 Italia. We now have 6 Italias in Indy and soon it will be more. Interestingly they are all a different color. This years driving season will be truly amazing with that many 458s in play.
We are planning several events for this year, which will culminate in the FCA 50th Anniversary Celebration at Road America in August of 2013.
In April we have the Purdue Gran Prix in conjunction with the OHIO Chapter on April 20th. I am looking at doing a Dine and Drive event in late April or early May, more to come on that. We will be attending the Central States Regional Concours and Track event at Gingerman Raceway in Michigan on May 18-20. Then we will do a Brunch and Drive from Matteos Restaurant in Noblesville on June 3rd.
Then I will try to piggyback with another club so we can do a track day at Road America. We will look at the usual festivals in town and maybe do a dry run with the Ronald McDonald House, as they are the named charity for the 2013 50th Anniversary Celebration.
The FCA 50th Celebration will kickoff in August at the Consorso Italiano in California with the One Lap of North America. This will be a relay thru all 50 states and Canada that will come to Indianapolis in June of 2013. It will continue at the 50th Annual Meet in Palm Springs in October and will culminate with the 51st Annual Meet in August of 2013 at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin using the Road America track for all the final festivities.
We will have our annual Fall Drive again this year and hopefully we will have some surprises along the way.
Don't forget to mark your calendar for the Ferrari And Friends Event in Fort Wayne, on October 5,6,7, 2012.This is a great time, I have gone the last couple years and it has been a blast. The turnout has been nothing short of amazing too. Good food, good drink, great cars and great people and all for a charitable cause.
If you have any event ideas for 2012, drop me line, the more events we have the better.
If anyone is interested in getting a 458 let me know. They are sold out for coupes most places and the spyders are on a 3 year wait, or basically sold out also. But I can probably help you get something done if you are really serious about getting one.
I should have individual write-ups on all the above in the coming days, so check back often.
Forza Ferrari,
