Purdue Grand Prix 2014 PDF Print E-mail

Hello FCA members and friends of the FCA-

Once again we’re invited to Purdue to help raise scholarship money for the students.  Last year with the floods only a few cars made it there, but in the past it has been a fun event, and I hope you can join us.  This year’s Grand Prix scholarship fundraising event is Friday, April 25. Here’s the rest of the info:

We should arrive between 8:30 and 8:45 AM on April 25th at the Memorial Mall so we can have all the cars placed by 9AM.  The Mall is on State Street, which is also known as State Route 26.  The address of 128 Memorial Mall, West Lafayette, Indiana 47907, which is for Stewart Hall adjacent to the Memorial Mall, should get people there easily.  The event runs until 3PM, but you are able leave whenever you need to.

There is a Post-Practice Pit Stop reception from 7-9PM in the Lawson Computer Science Building Room 11.  All of us are invited to this event. Please let me know if you will be attending the reception.

All of us will get tickets to the Grand Prix race day, which is Saturday April 26 for those who want to stay over or come back after Friday’s fun.  Any member staying overnight to attend the Grand Prix can book rooms at The Prestige Inn (765-463-1531). The Inn is a safe location for the cars, as it is operated by the family of a previous Grand Prix board member. Overnight FCA members will pay for their own rooms. Transportation to the track will be provided should you choose to attend the race on Saturday, April 26, to ensure the safety of the cars.

The weather can be unpredictable, and both the track and the Memorial Mall can be quite windy; please dress accordingly. Bringing chairs to sit in during Friday’s event is recommended.  For those not there the last couple of years, we display our cars, talk to students/faculty/visitors and encourage them to attend the Grand Prix race on Saturday, which raises scholarship money.  We also encourage the kids to study hard and complete their degrees, and to join the FCA if they are interested.  I’ll have a handout for anyone to take if they are interested in becoming members.  We get to visit among ourselves, relax and enjoy some good conversations.  Lunch will be provided.  The Grand Prix Foundation has the entire Mall reserved, and will have a variety of the tents and displays set up as well.

I’ll be there helping place cars on the Mall, I’ll wear a cowboy hat so you can recognize me.  I’ll also put some Ferrari Club Ohio Chapter signs where you should turn from SR 26, also known as State Street.

In case anyone has any problems, they can call my cell phone 513-310-9126 or my wife Beverly’s cell phone at 513-310-9123 and we’ll resolve any issues.

Please let me know if you will be able to attend.  I look forward to seeing you there, and I appreciate your support of this scholarship fundraiser.
